Welcome to our village

Selmeston

SelmestonSelmestonSelmeston

an historic village that dates back 12,000 years

Selmeston is located some eight miles east of Lewes, the county town of East Sussex. The village is principally focused on The Street, which runs due north from the A27. A small part of the Parish falls within the South Downs National Park. There are no street lights or pavements and this gives the village some of its character, which is enhanced by verges and banks which are home to wild flowers and to daffodils that have been planted by residents.

Selmeston has an intriguing past. Take a journey of discovery from prehistory to the present day, learn about our local landscape, conservation and environment, our community events and what matters to the people living in and around the area.
